So, Katy Perry. Famously known for I Kissed A Girl. You know the song that goes "I kissed a girl and I liked it, the taste of the cherry chapstick" It's upbeat. Awesome vocals. But I want to talk about a different song. Thinking Of You, a song about getting over an ex. I don't really know what that's like but it must be tough. I remember the first time I heard this song I cried (I know, I'm a sap). But the metaphors that she uses are so strong to me. For example: "You're like an Indian summer in the middle of winter/Like a hard candy with a surprise center." Also the line "You said move on, where do I go?" That last line that I quoted gets me choked up a little bit. I don't know if this has ever happened to you (followers) but when a friend "dumps" or lets go of you it hurts. Especially if they don't want to talk about it or tell you what you did wrong. I guess it feels even worse your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse does the same thing. The person that you thought loved you, actually doesn't. Just thinking about makes my stomach feel weird.
I have my own personal thoughts about this song. I think that is great. It's sad and it doesn't make me happy but listening to it makes feel better when I think of the drama going on between my friends (there's always drama). Also Katy Perry is a beautiful singer. Her voice isn't exactly a traditional Miley Cyrus voice. Katy's voice is more of a alternative singer that sings really "poppy" songs. I feel that this is one of her slow, realistic, nice songs. One of those songs that are not a feel-good song but you deal with it. You listen to the lyrics and the nice metaphors. I also feel like Katy Perry is a real person. Like you can actually understand what she's saying. I quickly want to mention Mannequin by Katy Perry. I know people who are great looking, but aren't real. She says: "You're not a man, you're just a mannequin." Maybe I need to know them better, but what I do know about them, is that they don't feel real. Getting back to Thinking Of You, I love this song. What do my followers (or guests, I would LOVE to hear your opinions) think?
I'm probably going to be coolest dork you'll ever meet. :D

it's more about getting over someone you loved that you lost bc/ the music video is in the 40's and her 'beau' goes to war and i think tells her that if he doesn't come back that she has to move on and now she's married to a guy that she doesn't really love and is just remembering all of the good times with her first guy.
ReplyDeletebtw i like that song a lot.
Yeah, I know the video. But actually she is with that guy before she learned that she lost her 'beau (isn't it beaux...?)'
